Dear Pulse Readers,

After three long years, our favorite cosplay convention is back in full gear! So, grab your costumes, hats & sunscreen, and head down to sunny SoCal with us for the triumphant return of San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) starting July 21st through July 24th.

The lineup for this year’s convention has the #SDCC Twitterverse buzzing with excitement for film & TV first-looks, celebrity-filled panels, and immersive exhibitions from the world’s biggest brands. Call us geeky, but we can’t wait to get in on all the action.

Couldn't snag a badge this year? No need to fear — there's still plenty to do and see outside of the convention center. We’ve curated a list of can’t-miss SDCC experiences, a hot-off-the-presses San Diego Travel Guide, and pro-tips for making the most of Comic-Con as an attendee.

So, read on and happy Comic-Con.

Stay inspired.

The New + The Noteworthy

Everything Worth Doing/Seeing/Getting/Booking

TV’s #1 new comedy and fan-favorite phenomenon Ghosts is coming to Comic-Con for a “spirited” panel conversation and a screening of never-before-seen footage. Outside the convention walls, the “Summer of GHOSTS” continues with the BMF-produced activation, Pinecone Trooper Pete’s “Friend Zone”. Head over to the Interactive Zone at Petco Park from July 21-24 to get in on the campsite adventure full of programming that’ll give attendees insight into their past, present, and future lives.

Whether you’re all about Marvel or the Metaverse, Comic-Con has something for everyone. Check out the official schedule here and start building your itinerary for each action-packed day.

Our DJ trio of caped crusaders leading the pack at this Comic-Con party is Major Lazer aka Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums. They’ll be performing at the Bloom Nightclub on Thursday evening. It’s superhero themed, so get ready to put your muscle suit on. Tickets are selling fast.

The San Diego Botanic Garden premieres the most ambitious and expansive exhibition to date of contemporary artworks created with augmented reality technology. This exhibition features works by 13 artists including Ai Weiwei, Refik Anadol, and El Anatsui and visitors can engage with them via a special app. Seeing the Invisible fosters collaboration among institutions, artists, and audiences to highlight the power of art and nature to connect people. Catch it before it’s gone this August!

In an unprecedented move into the national retail market, Toonstar, the Web3 animated studio, has just announced its new partnership with national retail chain Hot Topic. Catch their upcoming launch at SDCC which will feature NFTs and other digital activations sold in retail stores and online nation-wide. Click here to learn more about the collaboration.

The Frequency

What We're Listening To Now.

We can’t talk Comic-Con without talking Anime and, with that, introduce you to BMF Music PR client Radwimps. Formed in 2001, the Japanese 4-piece made their major label debut in 2005 and received acclaim around their creation of music for record-breaking animated feature films "Your Name" and "Weathering with You". Having released nine studio albums to date they’re the real deal. So keep an eye out – they’ve got some pretty major things in the works and you won’t want to sleep on this band. The best place to start your exploration into all things Radwimps is here.

The Destination

Now Departing...

While Comic-Con has endless opportunities for fun, food, and fandom, San Diego is a vacationer’s paradise year-round. Check out our new travel guide and make the most of your trip to SoCal.

The Sublime

Creators, Innovators, And Cool $#!+ You Should Know About.

London-based photographer Thurstan Redding is bringing the burgeoning art of cosplay to a traditional printed format with his new, beautifully crafted photography book, Kids Of Cosplay. Pre-order your edition before they’re all gone.

For some people Comic-Con is all about showing your creativity through clothes. But, when the convention center closes its doors for the year, finding fearless, fun frocks that set you apart can be a challenge. That’s where Strongthe (pronounced “strong-tay”) comes in. The brand’s most recent Fall/Winter 2022 collection is titled “Boo!” and was inspired by ghosts – a perfect way to carry on the SDDC spirit. Peep the looks here

Sci-Fi fans everywhere are anxiously awaiting the release of Jordan Peele’s NOPE. The film is dropping on July 22nd and is sure to draw some of the Comic-Con crowd. However, if you’re on the ground at the convention and can’t pull yourself away, check out the NOPE VR experience to explore the movie in the Metaverse. And whatever you do... don't look up.

As we mentioned in the POV, the sun at Comic-Con is no joke. Snag some high quality SPF and read about the skincare collab between Humanrace and Pharrell Williams on the brand’s website
