Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is the king of PR – and knows how to play his cards to stay in the spotlight. Announced in 2020, the partnership between Gap and Yeezy was set to continue through 2026 but abruptly ended when Ye announced he was terminating his contract immediately. Since then he’s made his debut on TikTok and announced several launches of new business ventures – including selling his entire catalog of music. What will he do next? Keep checking the news. This is BIG – and was buzzed about by everyone. The founder of Patagonia transferred his ownership to a trust and a nonprofit organization with the intent of “earth being the only shareholder.” His $3B business was officially donated to fighting climate change – aligning their audience’s interest with their brand values. After the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Netflix series The Crown announced they would be suspending filming during the funeral. By showing a sign of respect to their main subject the series remained in fans’ good graces and experienced an unprecedented surge in popularity. Watch the full series here.

There are many ways to build buzz around a brand – the fastest is to go viral. Meme viral. And that's what happened to Kith’s new Fall collection. Modeled by Jerry Seinfeld, the pics kicked up a big fuss with people on the internet – of all generations – and the memes didn’t take long to be created and shared online. All laughs aside, the strategy behind nostalgia, memes and media is ingenious. ➔

As the Patagonia news story has shown, sustainability is truly a trending topic. BMF’s client, The Hidden Sea taps into this need by removing and recycling 10 bottles of plastic from the ocean for every bottle of wine bought. They recently made their debut on the TODAY Show, garnering attention for all the good they do (and how great their products taste!).

Last week the clock rolled back to 1985 thanks to NBC’s Quantum Leap activation. With gas prices steadily rising, the clever minds attached to the show took an opportunity to give back to Angelenos by offering 91 cent gas prices. By leveraging ‘newsjacking,’ the stunt paid off as lines stretched around the block and the show’s launch started trending on Google. Read about the stunt here. 

By recognizing the importance of nostalgia when it comes to consumer’s pocketbooks, nearly all major luxury brands have brought sporty sunglasses back to the forefront of fashion.
