It’s been three years since the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, and the bill was signed by President Joe Biden officially making Juneteeth a federal holiday in the United States – which is why, today, BMF’s U.S. offices are closed for the holiday. |
For our readers outside the U.S. – Juneteenth is an American holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. |
BMF has had the pleasure of working on programs designed to celebrate and amplify Black stories & voices over the years – from TikTok’s first-ever Make Black History Summit, to the premiere of Hulu’s The 1619 Project – and Juneteenth is a great opportunity to celebrate the vibrancy of Black people and culture. |
That’s why, in this issue, we’re exploring how brands can authentically connect with these audiences, and the creators, innovators, and brands who are pushing the culture forward. Read on to discover our edit of great ways to support Black owned businesses and creators (and not just for Juneteenth). |

If you’re not sure how to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday, check out some ideas here. |
