Dear Pulse Readers,

Where does the time go? It feels like just yesterday we were heading to SXSW to set up the Schweppes Ale House, welcome folks to the Mutual Weave Fashion Fuel Up powered by JCPenney, and take attendees on a psychedelic journey into FX’s Atlanta. Since then we’ve helped clients connect with engaged crowds at every major cultural event from Coachella to Comic-Con to Art Basel – and everything in between – while still finding time to celebrate Madonna in all her glory.

Next week we’ll be Out Of Office at our End Of Year gathering in Miami, which we promise will be well documented on Instagram.

Then, it’s time to kick back with a hot cocoa (or perhaps the drink that defined 2022 – a Sbagliato) and get ready for a bigger and better 2023.

As this is our final edition of the season, we wanted to take a look back at what inspired us this year, share a few can’t-miss features to explore before the 31st, and take a moment to share our gratitude. We’re so thankful for our clients, our talented vendors, our incredibly talented and hardworking teams (who won 3 Clio Awards this year –  on top of Bruce Starr’s Adweek Experiential Executive of the Year 2022 Award! Wow!), and of course – you!

Back before you know it (with a 2023 trend report and so much more!)

Stay inspired.

Bruce, Brian, Ed + The BMF Team

The POV

From groundbreaking exhibitions and innovative fashion moments to AR-inspired events, there wasn't a dull moment in 2022. Check out this week's POV to see what marketing moments inspired BMFers the most this year.

The New + The Noteworthy

Everything Worth Doing/Seeing/Getting/Booking

To celebrate the end of the year, the iconic Selfridges – which has brought customers some of the year’s best pop ups – has partnered with Belvedere Vodka to launch a pop-up bar in its London store, featuring imagery from the brand's new campaign with Daniel Craig. Stop by the first floor menswear shoe department to taste some premium sips, check out their limited edition bottle here, and read on here.

Louis Vuitton is partnering with the iconic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama for the second time in 10 years. The artist's signature dot designs will cover the brand's pre-existing silhouettes, paying homage to iconic bags like the Speedy and Alma. The drop is in January 2023 and you can snag yourself a dotted bag here. In the meantime, check out the Kusama-inspired instagram filter or head to see her works at the Veuve Clicquot Solaire Culture exhibition as it heads from LA to London – learn more here.

At this ode to French designer Thierry Mugler, who passed away at the beginning of the year, visitors can explore the daring and innovative fashion he created. The Brooklyn Museum's first retrospective of his work features nearly 130 outfits and immersive installations, showcasing Mugler's haute couture designs, stage costumes, custom accessories, sketches, videos, and images by leading fashion photographers. Book your ticket before it’s gone here.

If you read our “Artists You Need To Know Right Now” POV, you've heard of the visionary Es Devlin. One of the world’s most coveted set designers, she teamed up with champagne brand Moët Chandon and installed a large-scale sculpture in New York's Lincoln Center. The illuminated work pays tribute to the diversity of languages and cultures in the city and the opening night got us all in the holiday spirit with a surprise visit from the Queen of Christmas herself – Mariah Carey. The installation will be on display until December 18. To get more info, click here.

Experience the evolution of Mercedes-Benz’s design through the eyes of pop art legend Andy Warhol at the Petersen Automotive Museum in LA. See five of the classic cars that inspired Warhol's final commission for Mercedes-Benz along with 40 original works from the project. The exhibit also features Warhol's own iconic car, a 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Book your tickets here.

You might have spotted a special blue building in the Miami Art District a couple of weeks ago – Tiffany & Co.’s new holiday pop-up café! Now you can literally have Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and are encouraged to do so. Inspired by Miami’s vibrant spirit, the shop is brightly adorned with neon accents, intentional paint spills and acrylic framed art commissioned by artists Kai & Sunny. The café is open 7 days a week, so grab yourself a coffee and shop the holiday collection here.

You don’t have to buy an expensive ticket to France for your Emily In Paris moment. Just pass by Centre Street (between Broome and Grand) to experience the Netflix hit series IRL at their curated Christmas Market, taking place today! The market will host festive activations, giveaways, and Insta-worthy moments inspired by the show. Don’t miss your chance to try Emily's hot cocoa and pastries, test your French skills, or go for Champere Happy Hour. Check it out here.

The Frequency

What We're Listening To Now.

You can’t have a year in review without mentioning one of the biggest artists of 2022….Taylor Swift. When Midnights landed in October, it broke records – including being the most streamed album on Spotify in a single day and occupying the entire top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. It has earned the biggest streaming week for any album by a woman as well as selling more vinyl ever in a week in the history of Nielsen music records. And all that without even mentioning the millions of tickets sold when her tour was announced that crashed Ticketmaster’s site (psst…anyone have a hookup for us Swifties?)

The Destination

Now Departing...

With the completion of the most internationally discussed sporting event – the World Cup – only days away, we’re sharing our Doha travel guide.

The Sublime

Creators, Innovators, And Cool $#!+ You Should Know About.

If you didn’t get the chance to check out the BMF produced “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” Pop-Up experience for Whitney’s new biopic, check out MAC Cosmetics makeup collection, inspired by her iconic moments here. And don’t forget to check it out in theaters December 23rd. Learn more and snag a seat here.

Jean-Michel Basquiat’s contemporary artwork has remained relevant throughout the years and artists of all forms continue to honor his legacy. This year, his art and fashion converge through a collaborative showcase curated by Black Fashion Fair. Called “Those Who Dress Better,” it will exist within the larger King Pleasure Exhibition, which opened December 7th and features nine black designers paying homage to Basquiat and his legacy. Plan your visit here.

Architecture c/o Virgil Abloh™ hosted the first annual ABLOH Skateboarding Invitational with Miami skate brand Andrew in recognition of Abloh's passion for fostering creativity in the skateboarding space. His legacy has continued to live on despite his passing, with his spirit inspiring culture, art, and community. The event is set to become an annual occurrence, so mark your calendars for next year's ABLOH skateboarding sesh. Read on here.

Our LA and Miami offices aren't likely to see anything resembling snow this holiday season – however we’re getting ready for the first ever "e.l.f.ing glow storm"! e.l.f. Cosmetics teamed up with Grammy Award-winning artist Meghan Trainor and The Weather Channel for a new campaign. The glow storm is coming, just in time for e.l.f.'s Halo Glow Liquid Filter to be back in stock. Don't miss the 5-Day Glowcast Bundle here.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…to treat yourself to a decadent indulgence. Who can forget Kith’s iconic Senifeld campaign that went viral a few months back? Well, the shop has found a couple of new beloved stars to partner with this sweet season – Cocoa Puffs and Jacques Torres. Shop exclusive apparel and home goods, and try chocolatey confections at Kith Treats' SoHo and Brooklyn locations. Don't miss ice cream swirls, milkshakes, and hot chocolate – this specialty menu only runs through December 18! Discover more here.

2022 was all about tech – with some high highs and low lows. However, the eternally creative Gorillaz are set to take over Times Square and Piccadilly Circus with augmented reality performances of their new track "Skinny Ape" featuring giant avatars of the band. Could this be the best marrying of Web3 and culture in a way that feels additive and ahead of the curve? The shows will take place on December 17 and December 18 respectively. The AR performances were directed by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett and created using Google's AR technology. Get more information about the activations here.

Each year, Pantone selects a Color of the Year that reflects the current state of the world and predicts the future direction of design and fashion. The color for 2023? Viva Magenta. Celebrate in style and join ARTECHHOUSE and Pantone for the Magentaverse experience. The event brings attendees into Viva Magenta through various rooms filled with textures and interactive moments.
